five senses friday: good-bye July edition

I know it's not Friday, but I wanted to post this before the end of the month, so I'm still playing along with abby on this one.seeing: the sunflowers in our garden open up.touching: the rain dabbled pumpkins beginning to appear at the patch. very exciting!!!
smelling: loaves of fresh zucchini bread fresh from the oven. you just can't beat it!!hearing: the buzzing of busy bees on my favorite wildflowers.
tasting: fresh peaches....yummo!

Starting August 1st, I'll be playing along with Susannah for August break. I'll see you then!

Waiting for the pool to open on a hot summer day!

I've been quietly enjoying fresh food, fresh flowers and fresh memories. My sister and her family flew back home to California yesterday after 2 weeks here. We miss them already!We celebrated my moms birthday all together.Sisters are the best!I found this lovely tin that inspired my fall project for this year. More on that soon!

summer vacation...

I just returned from a wonderful week "up north" at a cabin that we've rented for the past five years running with my parents and my sister and her family. We always have such a sweet time together! We took many boat rides across the lake to view the gorgeous loons and visit the bald eagles nest.... with babies!The kids played in the sand and made many castles and moats. A local antique store nearby is always full of colorful vintage goodies.
Chloe and her cousin Annika had such a great time together!This year was highlighted with amazing food! S'mores each night, perfecting our brownie s'more concoction. Yum!The kids participate in the fishing contest off the dock, catch and release. Always a good time!Lots of free time to play and enjoy each others company.

A wonderful vacation, indeed!

new toy....

A Canon 20d digital SLR camera has come into my posession and I couldn't be more thrilled! I haven't shot with an SLR since the days of using only film and processing my own pictures in college. What fun this will bring and will certainly expand my creativity with my photography. Here are my first few pics playing around with it.

holiday weekend....
