Hello! I disappeared for a bit there, but I definitely have my Christmas crafting mojo back now! I caught up in my Christmas journal for Shimelle's class. Above is {Day 8} which was journaling about the changes that I'm seeing with Christmas approaching. I wrote about how I love to see holiday window displays, this one being my favorite this year at The Curious Sofa. I have also really been enjoying all of the wonderful window displays that Lilli has been sharing on her blog.
{Day 9} was about traditions. I journaled about how I hadn't put a lot of thought into holiday traditions until I had kids of my own. Now I hope to continue with meaningful traditions from my and my husband's childhood (like making sugar cookies!) and create traditions of our own that are unique to our family's beliefs and values. Each of the "cookies" on the layout above opens up for more journaling. I just love how these two pages came together as a layout!
{Day 10} is about showcasing your page as a gift. This is the wonderful flocked paper that I found this year and the rosette face was too cute not to show off on the top of a gift!
Finally, I need to ask a big favor! I would love to make some really cute (and easy) ornaments from scrapbook paper for my sons teachers. Do any of you know any links to some neat projects? If you could leave it in the comments I would *really* apprecaite it. Thanks!!! Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!
I really like how you decorated the bird in the PP.
ReplyDeleteLove the flocked paper, too. What a fun present that would be to get!
Such beautiful pages! That flocked paper is gorgeous! I love how you made the cookies and journaled behind them; very creative!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteWonderful journal. For ornaments with the pp, I have backed large chipboard letters/monograms, inked fronts, embossed with heavy duty clear powder, then strung with beaded wire. they make for pretty ornaments. Sorry I have no pictures and the idea came from a friend.
Don't know about easy, but Tina/Tinasue (not sure which name she used) has left a fantatic picture on the basic grey gallery of a tree she made. I saw it in real life too and it is really good.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried buying the Basic Gret ornament kit. they look great and are meant to be easy. OR cover a Cd with paper and make it look like an ornament.
ReplyDeleteI love your pages. your album is looking good!
Been trying to find a link for you and failed miserably. Anyway, my suggestion is stars. I think I also saw some on jennyjournals with a vintage feel. Seen them with bits dangling from a star point. You could just have so much fun. We made a few and posted them on my blog. The kids can do it too. Or you could Bellafy them too. Simple but effective. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteLove your touch of glitz on the bird! Great book so far! Good luck with the search for ornaments, I "cheat" and just buy BG!
ReplyDeleteFabulous pages!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your decorated "cookies"! TOO CLEVER BY HALF!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful - all of the. I'm such a fan of your style. Love your pages!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Friend :) Glad you like my shop photos.
ReplyDeleteYou're right about those two LOs side-to-side. They look great! Soft colours and texture.
I'll let you know if I come across any SB paper ornaments.
love your pages.. so creative that bird is fantastic :)
ReplyDeletebeautiful pages, love your layers and unique touches. hey here's a link that might be worth a peek for quick ornaments, they seem easy enough, you use pieces of scrapbook paper, cardstock etc. (involve the kiddos to rip up strips if needed) and recycle old xmas bulbs at the same time - how cool is that?!
ReplyDeletegood luck! Laura

Love your pages!
ReplyDeleteI am sure you have thought about the strips of paper rolled inside the glass balls... they have been a hit with my coworkers (who happen to be teachers, too!)
Your pages are gorgeous"!!!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely have the Christmas crafting mojo going. You amaze me with all you accomplish.
ReplyDeleteThese are the easiest ornaments to make--http://dubandsam.com/ideas/3dpaperstars.html
ReplyDeleteYou can get help from the kids and you can make them just about any way you want. Glitter would be really cool!
I did some with red cardstock and the vintage photo distressink and they look JUST like those old (slightly rusty) tin stars that you see around.
I love that partridge paper with those photos! Well done.
ReplyDeleteThese are CD magnets but if you add ribbon they could be ornaments instead!
