As you have clearly seen, I'm on a basket binge lately. I love making them. It all started with Cerri with her prompt and her contest..which I ended up winning. Too funny! This one above, I made to house my glorious mosaic spring egg from Michelle, aka Mosiac Cottage . I thought it needed its own special home. Baskets are great, because you can do any theme you can imagine and pretty much put anything that you want into them. So after sharing a bunch of them in the last several posts, I noticed that Mary mentioned that there's always May baskets to be made. Yes, indeed there is! I've always been a fan of the May basket tradition of making a little basket of spring goodies and putting it on a neighbors door. So my wheels started turning and I decided it would be fun to share the spring love through blogland and host a
May Basket Swap!!!
Here are the details: Leave a comment here to let me know if you would like to participate and make sure to leave your email address. I will then email you and ask you for your mailing address.
I will take sign-ups until the end of day Thursday. You will then get an email on Friday letting you know the blog "neighbor" that you will be making your basket for. Baskets need to be sent out (Priority mail) by the 24th to give enough time to get to your partner by May 1st!!! **Both bloggers and blog readers can join...the more the merrier!!**
The baskets can be anything you want: store bought or handmade. Althought I think at least part of it should be handmade. I bought the basket above and altered and added to my hearts content. Fill your basket with spring goodies of any sort, vintage inspired it always nice. Since you can't send real flowers think silk flowers, velvet leaves, millinery flowers, birds, butterflies....whatever makes you smile:) When you get your swap partner you may want to email them and see what kind of color combinations and/or style that they like. Remember those amazing nests and wreaths I showed you from Maxine's? Here's one below. Think along those lines...

Ooooo..please include me!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of my childhood. Growing up my Mom and I used to make May day baskets with violets in them. Then I would go around and hang them on the doors of elderly neighbors ... ringing their door bell and hiding behind the shrubbery to see their reaction. From that... to swaps with fellow bloggers Fun!
