13 Days of Halloween: 8 {jack-o-lanterns}

The morning after.... Thanks for all the wonderful visits yesterday for the Autumn Gathering Party. What amazing decor you all have...so personal and creative. I loved blog hopping around and visiting you all. Today I thought I'd show you our jack-o-lanterns for this year.
We always do simple designs.
This year I let the kids draw their faces on the pumpkins and we simply carved out what they created. Love these cuties!

There are so many fun ideas out there. Better Homes and Gardens has some great projects here, as does Martha's Halloween Workshop.

I'd love to see your pumpkins!

  1. Great pumpkins Kari... looks like your kids enjoy them. My kids always felt squeamish when it came to sticking their hands inside... you know who always had to do it!!

    I haven't carved a neat pumpkin in a few years.. i'm always busy with this or that... I think i will take time out and do one this year. I have them already. just need to bring one in.. i think we will do that this weekend! I need to get myself a digital camera...

    It's nice that your children were so involved in the decorating part of their pumpkins. Since my son is grown up, I haven't carved pumpkins for years.
    I saw a helpful hint to preserve your pumpkins. Wet them down where they are cut, put plastic wrap over them (each night) and put them in the frig. Now if it's cold enough, you could just keep them outside. They will last 2 weeks this way without getting moldy.

  5. It's amazing come up with when left with a felt tip pen and a pumpkin. They look like they are having fun!

    Sad to have missed the party yesterday when a migraine interfered. Instead I've posted picture of an amazing pumpkin posted in turn by Jessica Galbreth and based on one of her paintings. It's quite something!

    I love how you had the kids design the pumpkins and cut out what they drew!
    Pumpkin carving is always fun in our house too. We carve a lot of them the last week before Halloween, so they last for the big night.
    I clip and save inspirational magazine photos too.

  10. These are so great! Thanks for the photos.
    And thanks for the reminder about the party participants list; I'm going over to them right now! I've been so busy preparing for a party this weekend, that I didn't visit the partiers here. I'm glad you still have them listed.
