Happy Solstice...

Today we are reminded of
the cycle of the seasons and the continuity of life.In the woods today, I looked up and couldn't help but notice the way the trunk formed a circle. Peering through into the sunlight through the middle, I took a breath. I have noticed the play of the growing darkness internally and externally recently and celebrate the coming of the light. This is a time to draw in, reflect, count my blessings and revel in the season. Thank you for being the shining light in my little blog-world. I appreciate you being here.

Here is Chloe's little woodland solstice gathering. The "snow" is wool from my grandmother and the stones gathered from various journeys represent the fire/light.

Happy Solstice to you :)

Enjoy this solstice day. I like your daughter's scene that she set up. That is so neat.

Good morning Kari ~ We love the winter solstice here at our house. It means that today is the SHORTEST DAY OF THE YEAR, and us Alaskans we know that tomorrow we will get 5 more minutes of daylight. Right now, it gets fully light about 10am and dark again by 4pm. Beginning tomorrow, each day it will get a little bit lighter, until we have about 20 hours of daylight at the peak of the summer solstice.

Another tidbit about Alaska... it is fully dark for 6 weeks above the Arctic Circle. Has been for the last several weeks. It will be another three weeks before the sun will peek its head above the horizon again.

Have a warm and wonderful Sunday ~ Eileen @ Star's Fault

Happy Winter Solstice. I love the gathering by Chloe. Lovely. The picture of the tree with the circle is fitting for this day.

I am echoing the feeling of enjoying Chloe's gathering... it is so cute.

We too have experienced the mother nature experience. It came with some problems, but the ice storm we had, despite it's complications, has left us with a magnificent winter wonderland. I do so love to look at the trees encrusted with crystal clear ice... they are beautiful lace-like puffs of wonder against the dusty blue horizon.
