five senses friday: i {heart} portland edition

Playing along with abby again for five senses friday and this week I was in her neck of the woods, Portland. When we arrived, we went straight for the lookout of the columbia river gorge. The clouds started to break and the sun illuminated the amazing spring greens. It was gorgeous!

seeing: Friends I haven't seen in a long time, Michelle, Hope and Cassondra. We were so happy to be together!Multnomah FallsWe headed into the city for some fantastic shopping.smelling: It seems that each little store has its own delightful smell. Think about anthropologie and the smell itself is a big part of the experience. Our first stop was flora, which we spotted while stopped at a traffic light. Then on to eccentric cargo, so full of color and curiosities.tasting: The taste of Portland are definitely cupcakes and coffee. This delightful filled morsel is from cupcakes jones.hearing: So many giggles! We moved on to the ace hotel for some uber-fun photo booth sessions. Here's me with Hope. For the evening we headed to Michelle's wonderful home and gushed over her amazing studio. She was such a gratious hostess and had thought about every detail of our trip to make it the best experience possible..and it sure was! We met up with Jill and Andrea for a night of crafts and artsy fun. feeling: lots of delightful vintage bits and bobs to play with and run our hands over. The next morning we wrote postcards home (here's Hope) and planned out our day, Michelle had a full itinery for us!So many photos to take, so little time! Here we are at monticello antiques. Michelle, Jill, Hope, me, Cassondra.
We had a wonderful time at Found on Freemont with special treats of more cupcakes and sparkling lemonade. Cheers! What a gorgeous store. I had my biggest haul there. I'll share my treasures in another post. Then on to Ink and Peat. Hope and I have followed the blog for awhile and were excited to see this wonderful store in person. It certainly did not disappoint!
On to more eye candy at flutter.
Our second day was capped with a beautiful sunset stroll through crystal spring rhododendron gardens.

On our last day, we met up with Natalie and took a trip to the coast at Tillamook to visit Lonnie. She made us a wonderful lunch in her beautiful farm house and she taught us how to make these necklaces! She gifted me with the "k" and I made the other charm with my style statement. What fun!

We drove to the coast in the pouring rain, but it was still beautiful!

We had our last dinner at McMenamin's and settled in for a quiet night. Then Hope and I were off the next morning. What an amazing weekend we had together! I've posted lots more pics on my flickr page here.

Welcome to my home state! I don't spend very much time in Portland so I'll be eager to check out some of the places you visited the next time I'm up that way.

Glad you had a fun and scenic trip!

What a wonderful trip. Looks like you had a great time. I had an evening with Michelle and got to go to Cupcake Jones. I had a cupcake just like that...only bigger :-)

It sounds like you did all sorts of cool things. The gorge is beautiful ad you even got a chance to create.
Thanks for sharing that, Kari. I have been thinking of the four of you!
