13 Days of Halloween: 2 {Costumes}

There aren't too many things cuter than seeing kids in their Halloween costumes, so I had to indulge myself and show you my two kiddos. Here they are in their trick-or-treat costumes. Here in Minnesota it is usually pretty chilly on Halloween night, so these are their "warm costumes" to layers jackets or whatever else we may need underneath.

Here are the costumes they wore to preschool today for their parties.
Chloe as a mermaid/fairy/princess and Lowell as dracula. Too cute!
This year I have really developed an infatuation with vintage costumes. Especially vintage handmade. This collection was shown in Country Living magazine last year. You can see more on the web site here. I'm really going to keep an eye out at estate sales for costumes, they're so fun!

This one reminded me of the one that I wore last year (below) that was purchased at an estate sale and is handmade. It's fabulous!
Paula Clare was lucky enough to recieve a vintage costume in her sweet and sinister package. Lucky girl!

Happy Haunting!

Your children looks so sweet in their costumes! It's neat that they got to wear to different ones.
I swear I had one of those vintage witches costumes in the middle 1960s. My mom wasn't good at remembering to take photos, but I do have a memory of a cape like that.
Happy Halloween!!

Your little sweeties are adorable! I sort of miss that! My sons are much older now. I love the first vintage costume you posted in this post. It is soooo retro and old fashioned looking. It would indeed be a great find!..hmmmm....

Your kids look so adorable!

I took my kids to a local festival for trick or treating. I think it was more fun for the boy than going house to house. It seems that not many parents are taking their kids out into the neighborhoods anymore...

I posted some pictures of the boys in their costumes on my blog:

Great pictures Kari!!

I remember being a fairy princess.. the costume in the box with the mask.. and a wand...

My kids no longer trick or treat... but we never had any problems around our area... i think it's a shame that the kids have to lose out on the thrill and anticipation of trick or treating. Some of my best childhood memories come from TOT. And some of those years it was soooo cold, but i don't even remember that... I just remember dad taking me out... wearing my coat underneath my costume so people could see it... being outside at night, amongst all of the other kids and parents, seeing all of the cool costumes others wore, checking out the decorations people had outside and last but not least, getting candy and eating my stash! Great memories.. and a tradition... I miss being the kid on that night. My dad and i used to make halloween scenes on paper and put them in the big picture window on halloween... Was fun.

SO CUTE! Your kids are adorable :)

My favorite memory of Halloween is that when I was 5 and we were living in Hamburg NY, my Mom drove me all the way to her parents' who lived in Ontario near Toronto. I dressed as a witch, and we spent much of the evening at my Great-Gramma's. So much fun being in the bosom of my family
