February survival guide...

I've been following Amanda Soule's winter manifesto on her blog SouleMama. I thought I'd play along. The manifesto quotes are taken from Amanda's blog. She explained her project as,
"an effort to stay mindful and aware...{it is a} Wintry Weather sanity-survival guide of sorts. Just little reminders - in words and pictures - of some of the joys that really are all around us this season. (Even if we have to look a bit harder that usual!)"

Number One ::
Follow the sun wherever you find it. Rejoice in the slowly-growing-longer days. I'm in love with my new pillow from Tracy B Designs. Also love the play of morning light here with my shadow in the photo looking through my camera lens.

Number Two ::
Make Stuff.

Artist's at work.

Lowell didn't take it seriously for too long!
Lowell's was more a study of the glaze of the vase:)
Number Three ::
With gratitude for the labor of summer and fall, do everything in front of the fire. Morning, Noon, and Night.
Ok, we don't have a fireplace, so our couch serves as our headquarters for snuggling, reading and the like. (Yes, Chloe is in her swim suit! She wears it all the time unless we are outside in cold).

Number Four ::
Get out there everyday, no matter how cold or quick the visit may be.
Through crunchy snow underfoot and breath-warmed wool on your face, remember the magic and wonder of it all.
Try not to take it for granted.
It's been warmer here the last few days and it looks like a great weekend ahead. Our snowman is in serious need of repair.

Lowell had to check on the new shed that daddy built over the summer and fall.

Who says you can't swing like a hot summer day?!

This was a fun exercise, I hope to keep up with Amanda's manifesto over the next couple of weeks. Have a great weekend!

I do love that shadow you left in your photo. And Lowell knows what's what with that painting. But I have to say, my favorite is the sofa shot. Our fireplace doesn't work and sometimes I will actually throw a pillow on the floor in front of the open window, and lie there reading with my doggie in the sun, and wow, is it WARM! We face south, and it gets toasty there on the wood floor. next best thing to the fireplace!

What graet pictures.
When I was your little girls age I used to wear my bathing suit all winter too(in New York)hehe.

All good reminders! Even for people who live in Florida.

Lookin' for light in all the right places.. Today was a little warmer around my parts, too. A delightful respite.

What a lovely set of words and photos! I especially love the picture of Lowell in front of the shed. Your blog and SouleMama's were two of the very first I started visiting regularly, and I still do ; ). Thanks for sharing~~

HOw super fun! I love it! You are so Awesome Kari! I'm In California and it's not snowing just rainy and we have been doing some of these fun things..except we drink the rainwater off the driveway..because we are 3 and waterbabies don't need it to be summer to play in the water! then she took a watering can(with more dirt in it) and drank it...thankfully her twin sister was just happy to jump in the puddles! I feel the freespirit of the snuggled up in the couch with the bathing suit on.
so fun Love the littles
They are so precious and wonderful! I love your journaling of yours and your childrens creations....I can't get the camera going fast enough for the twins we made valentines for the family today so with hands going into the ink pads and climbing out it's all I can do to stop the red and hot pink ink from painting the vanilla colored labrador puppy..though it wouldn't be the first ...she's been CHALKED before and survived....
hehehe

If you want I have just jumped in and started a blog but didn’t finish in time for the One world one heart event. Darn it. SO next year for sure!
