New art from the nest...

Beyond the images of ArtNest I shared in the post below, I thought I'd be brave and show you the art that I created over the weekend. I find that creating art in a group atmosphere like we do at a retreat or class is much more about the process than the product. I literally almost freeze up when I am creating with so many others around me and my eyes wander off so easily and get hung up in the work of others. I remind myself that I am learning new techniques and must give myself the space to try them, experimenting and not get fixated on the end result.Mati Rose gave us this poem at the beginning of class. It touched me so much that I used it in the background of the yellow bird piece above and the foreground of the patchwork piece that I created in her class.I attempted to draw a picture of my children and another of me looking lovingly at them in Kelly Rae's class.
I created this fun and funky jewelry in Jane Wynn's class. I used an image I had from Elsie Flannigan.
Unpacking my suitcase, looking through my new treasures acquired on the night we exchanged "trades" was definitely the most fun.
This wonderful heart is from Beth Quinn. My painting with the cutest little bouquet from Courtney.
Trades from Lorraine and Karen, along with the amazing ArtNest tool kit created from an Anthropologie tablecloth.
Inside the tool kit from Julie and Candice.
Adorable houses from Maya and vintage goodies from Julie.

All of these unique pieces of art, created by friends I adore, are bits of the nest that I will treasure forever.

Everything is just gorgeous. I admire people who can paint faces. I couldn't paint a face if my life depended on it.
Good job!

Kari, Your artwork looks amazing! I love the colors and the way you personalized your paintings. I too experience the same freezing up in large gatherings. There is so much excitement in the air that I'm almost too jazzed to focus on what I'm doing. But you hit the nail on the head...it is about the process. That's what I enjoy most at retreats and it was really nice to hear that you share the same sentiment. Thanks for a great post!

Hi Kari, It is wonderful seeing your work from our retreat here. It has been so busy and a little surreal returning to everyday life. What a treat it was to create art for three full days and meet you and all the other creative spirits from around the country.

I think I will be the same way as you at art retreat. Getting a little caught up in the details..I work slowly anyway. :0)
