What I've been up to....and some news

I've mainly been watching the Olympics at night which has gobbled up most of my evening art time. Definitely worth it, but I'm not used to watching so much tv and realizing how little sleep I'm getting and little art produced. I've also been settling back in after my outing to Oregon last week. Indeed it was an amazing time! The news is that I will not be making the trip to Pleasanton, California for ConvenZioNE next weekend. My class did not get enough registrants. I'll really miss meeting up with so many of you that were going. Have fun! I'm moving on and will be selling my house of inspiration kits in my etsy shop. I hope to have a big update by the end of the month. I'll keep you posted.I hit a tremendous estate sale today with lots of fun, quirky goodies.Love finding a pile of old stuff to sort through! Was thrilled to find some new witches boots for my Halloween decor this year.Bought this neat table, took off the glass top and made it into a "discovery table" for the kids. It tucks right under our front windows and I will change it seasonally. I love this kind of thing. They seem to as well:)

Have a great weekend!

Your finds, as always my dear, are magnificent. That discovery table has got to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen. And that crepe paper? Oh be still my heart. I love that old stuff! I have a bit of a stash...it was my obsession one week. :-)

Hope you have a loverly weekend!
Big hugs to you!

Hi Kari!
What a bummer your class didn't "make"! I can't imagine! *I* want to sign up and I'm not anywhere NEAR California! I'm SO GLAD you'll be making the kits available on your Etsy shop...they are SO cute!

Your finds are always so wonderful...I don't know if you're an excellent shopper (which I suspect) or if Minnesota is the home of all things FABULOUS when it comes to estate sales?!?! Either way, I see a trip north in my future!

Blessings!

Shame about the ZNE classes.....

Those boots are fab, fab,fabulous!

I've been obssessed by the Olympic tennis. You're right, the art does suffer in terms of giving it time. Oh well, its only every 4 years!

Keep arting and estate saling!

Kari, I can't believe your class didn't "make"! I'm sure the kits will make many happy when you put them on Etsy, but it doesn't seem quite right that you had to prepare way ahead & then just get "dropped"! Bummer for sure!

Your resiliant nature shines through, however -- look at all the beautiful goodies you found estating - and see how many got on board for the "Sweet & Sinister" blog/swaps! You are such a bright spot in Blogland!

Love your Discovery table - and those boots - wow, like the "Wizard of Oz" witches!! Beautiful crepe paper too!

Keep on being YOU!!

Such fabulous finds at the estate sale! And, I love those House of Inspiration kits. I might just have to snag one for myself when you add them to the shop. :0)

I have been watching the Olympic games also. I have been doing some cut work while watching. I think it is good to know a little about China too. That old saying keep your friends close and your enemy closer might apply here.
But it has been beautiful and I do enjoy almost all the events.
As ever, I love your blog and your pictures are worth a thousand words. Mary

Lovely, lovely things! Because of a pain disorder, I am not longer able to take good advantage of Minneapolis/St. Paul estate sales like I used to but aren't we lucky?

I loved your project and will keep my eyes open. You are so talented, Kari.

Many thanks,
Suz from Saint Paul

What a lovely idea with the table - reminds me of the Waldorf's seasonal children's table/altar, whatever it's called. I tried to keep something similar for my kids as they grew up and they really loved that they could help set it up and were allowed to touch things in it.

I found some new witch shoes too recently, at the thrift shop, and I was so excited because they are for a "little witch" - kid's size

Sorry to hear you won't be making the trip. What yummy goodies you found. The photos are yummy too. I loved the witches boots. That table is a wonderful idea. A great way to keep the littles ones learning without them knowing it.
