There's something about walking in a bog, under the pumpkin orange tamarack trees that is a bit spooky. Its one of my traditions this time of year to explore this spongy secretive habitat. Maybe it's the fiberous moss that hangs around, or all the mushrooms above and below, or maybe the deep grey dead trees against the orange backdrop. There's just something about the bog that says Halloween. Don't you think?!

Kari I can see your Halloween vision there!!! The orange leaf is the same color as the tree we planted last fall... this fall it's not so pretty though... :(
I think that mushroom looks like it's covered in gold!!! awesome.
